Rotations are usually pretty consistent, though there can be some decision-making for a few GCDs. Due to all this and the fact that the cast fits in the gap in your rotation, you dont have to worry about this taking priority over your other abilities. Unless theres a mechanic that prevents you from dealing damage or forces you to stop DPSing, you should not stop DPSing. There are 3 different tiers to consider. Its good to have 1 emergency panic button too, but everything else should be used to prevent your health from getting low in the first place. Remember, Bombing Run is a tiny bit stronger than Sweeping Gunfire for AoE, but it wont ever be essential to taking down groups of adds and you cant spam it, so youre better off not taking it for group content if you only need to AoE. Tripod 3. Each discipline has 8 choices where they pick 1 of 3 options. I just wanted to point out that Gunslingers are one of the two classes that do not have any sort of cleanse ability, the other is Vanguard / Powertech. Only Iron Scraps and mana. Using both Quickdraw and its Trickshot will cause you to delay Penetrating Rounds and Aimed Shot, though since those abilities have such long cooldowns, it takes a little while for you to delay them long enough for it to result in you missing out on an extra use of each of them and you arent actually losing DPS until this happens. Build Essentials: Hotshot Flourish Burst Energy Barrels Ballistic Dampers Bombing Run Locked and Loaded Legendary Improved Targeting Legendary. (Tech/Kinetic/Direct/AoE/Instant)If youre unable to take Hot Pursuit, Thermal Grenade is a great option to use while moving, though it does cost 20 Energy, so only use it if you can afford it. When Below the Belt is used, you get a proc that enables Quickdraw to be used against any target regardless of remaining health and makes that use of Quickdraw deal 15% more damage. For the rare scenario where enemies are too fast or plentiful to Imbue your pistol repeatedly, Brand can be extremely powerful when fully buffed. There are very few disciplines that match Sharpshooters level DPS debuff independence. Cannon Pistol + Shatter Bullet inflicts Pain and Confusion in a single shot, perfectly setting up your Opportunist Stab for absurd damage. Technically its okay to use this if you genuinely think you will die if you dont knock the enemies back right now, but honestly I think the better play is to just let yourself die and then throw a tantrum about why the tanks didnt keep the adds off of you and why you didnt get enough heals, though make sure youve used your threat drop and all your DCDs already. If you really want to be a clicker, I highly recommend you at least keybind this ability or you will have trouble with some of the shorter casts that need to be interrupted. If healers call out for players to use their Medpacs or if you find yourself having to use yours and see that the rest of the group could also probably benefit from their Medpac. The third option is less consistent, it seems to be there as an extra balance lever for BioWare since some abilities that got locked away are more impactful than others. Can the healers deal with it without too much stress? This proc also helps to reinforce that Trickshot is only supposed to be used once per every 2 Charged Bursts. This gives you an extra GCD on your Adrenal which can help in tight checks. (Tech/Elemental/Periodic/AoE/Casted)This ability is quite powerful, though its not the easiest thing to use since it takes almost 5 seconds from the start of the cast to when damage actually starts going out, and then it keeps going out for another 6 seconds. This allows it to be slotted into any group composition without causing problems. Since Vital Shot has to be applied and Burst Volley was activated, the gap in your rotation has already been used and then some, so Aimed Shot will likely be coming off cooldown partway through your Charged Burst x2 grouping, which is fine. In case you needed another reason to want to use Penetrating Rounds on cooldown, it also applies the strongest of the DPS debuffs in the game, the armor debuff. Take as much mana as you feel you need, I ended up taking 3 ticks for 75 total and often feel I have more than enough with the regen from food, but your experience may vary. If its Melee/Ranged damage, this will be the only DCD youll need because this will always mitigate all of the damage you take (provided you arent stunned). You can use a non-rotational ability as soon as you finish channeling Penetrating Rounds even before using that accompanying Trickshot since you have a 5s window to use Trickshot. Almost all of the burst specs in the game have a passive very similar to this one where their spammable AoE has increased critical chance and damage to compensate for not having a DoT spread. It has a relatively steep learning curve through its three weapon cycle but in return, rewards with a high-value party utility and high personal damage. Its great for burst DPS checks are tight enough and frequent enough to where you need 2 charges of Smugglers Luck for each one and cant get that with the normal cooldown. Just keep adding one augment at a time until you reach the desired percentage. Please note that you can still activate non-damaging abilities in between the 2 Charged Bursts and still get the cooldown reset on Trickshot, including Diversion. Activating Smugglers Luck twice in a row will just refresh the duration of the buff. Some of the important items you need are . The existence of the gap helps to cover for a lot of things that occur in an actual raiding environment, but not on a dummy, like needing to spend a GCD to roll, activate Diversion, hard stun, etc., so you might end up performing better in a lot of fights, particularly ones with a lot of mechanics, by using this build instead of the Sustained DPS build. (Ranged/Energy/Direct/Single-Target/Casted)This is one of your hardest-hitting abilities. Honestly, I wouldnt specifically cater to Sharpshooters needs at all. Since this build uses Relentless Shots, the gap in your rotation is completely eliminated. Smugglers Luck is used before everything else because the buff lasts for 20 seconds and only affects the very next use of Aimed Shot, so the earlier to activate Smugglers Luck, the earlier it will become available again, just be sure to not pop it so early that it falls off before you get to actually use Aimed Shot. You can use whichever feels more comfortable to you. There are two main builds stat wise - dex/agi and dex/vit/int. This is important because Charged Burst is far too expensive to use as often as we want to use it without this passive. The cutoff is 9 uses of Quickdraw, which takes a little over 90 seconds, so if the boss has enough health to where youre using more than 9 Quickdraws, then you should skip using the Trickshot procced by Quickdraw and just use Quickdraw exclusively in the gap slot until there are 90 seconds left since Trickshot + a Vital Shot tick is less than the damage dealt by Aimed Shot or Penetrating Rounds. Its still a noticeable DPS increase for the specs that provide it, but as a DPS debuff and piece of raid utility, it doesnt matter. These are the builds that I recommend for different types of content and situations. This Energy regeneration is essential to you being able to do your rotation. While it seems pretty identical to Sorcerer / Sage Phase Walk on the surface, there are several key differences: Luckily, the ability is still off the GCD, even though it has a castbar, so you can still use it while the GCD is active for another ability. Guarding is now a tank-only ability, which is the logical next step since the nerf to Guard for DPS partway through 6.0 was ineffective at stopping its ubiquity in PvP. This is your CC break. This advanced class passive is responsible for giving Gunslingers their 35m range on damaging abilities and 30m range on CC, as well as giving them one of their DPS debuffs (the individual specs only provide 1 debuff as opposed to 2). 1 choice where youre picking 1 of 3 abilities. Its important to practice your rotation on a dummy at least until you can execute it without having to constantly look at your bar. This forces you to read through what everything does so that you can understand what all of your passives and abilities do as well as locate these abilities in-game. You can either use Burst Volley on cooldown whenever you have enough time to do a full Penetrating Rounds grouping, which generally means you wont get the full benefit of the cooldown reduction, though you may get an additional use out of Burst Volley over the course of the fight; or you can save Burst Volley until right after you finish the Penetrating Rounds grouping to use that grouping twice in a row. Guild leaders, I personally recommend using the Fortune (yellow) guild perk set bonus instead, which grants 5% critical chance and also boosts the critical rate and time efficiency of all Crew Skills by 2%. A lot of the time things are immune to being knocked back and when they arent immune, its better that theyre all grouped up to be killed as fast as possible. I take Ballistic Redistribution because I prefer to never have to worry about Energy, but you probably wont need it very often outside of longer fights. Its important to get as much damage as possible while all of your damage boosts are available to maximize their impact. The increased duration of Hunker Down results in slightly higher uptime, but the animation still ends after 20 seconds even though the buff sticks around for the correct duration. This proc further reinforces that Charged Burst is supposed to be used twice per Trickshot. The true advantage of this build is its Energy efficiency, which enables you to not have to worry about using Cool Head at all as well as be able to spam Sweeping Gunfire to your hearts content, making it a great option for fights with a light amount of AoE. From the perspective of the highest burst, the second option is best, though from my limited testing, I didnt see a noticeable difference between the two from the perspective of sustained DPS. It can be a little different than the standard rotation because everything is off cooldown, including your OCDs and relic procs. You gear for the 10% defense/resist chance they have and then if there is some additional effect that messes with accuracy, like the clouds of dust you encounter during the Foreman Crusher fight in KP, its generally much stronger, so 30% wouldnt do enough. The best time to activate your Adrenal is right before casting Aimed Shot, since this will allow you to cast it twice while the Adrenal is active alongside. If you do constantly have to rebuild it because the fight has a lot of downtime, you will have slightly less DPS overall. Browse through Cube, Chaos, Leveling and Raid builds to find the one that fits your unique playstyle. Neither effect works in MM raids or PvP, so if you do either of those activities, youll need to tweak your gear to reach the desired threshold, which I find to be super tedious. This ability technically does not do any AoE damage, but it will only ever be used in AoE situations so I am going to talk about it here. Since the mitigation is so short, it can be fairly difficult to time, so you may need to practice it a little bit, and dont be afraid to completely stop DPSing for a moment if theres something that will kill you if you dont do the cheese correctly. Unfortunately, this experience doesnt translate as well to group content where Sharpshooter is not in a great spot. The Gunslinger is a Striker, plain and simple. How can I do as much damage as possible in each GCD (global cooldown, 1.5s duration before you can activate another ability) given the constraints of the fight? Outside of specific mechanics, its not usually something at your disposal in group content. The spec is designed such that you use the other two groupings of abilities once each before the third becomes available again. Part of knowing a fight is understanding how much damage you take and what you can do to mitigate that damage. Explore. Make sure that all DCDs are on cooldown before activating Bag of Tricks. Build Essentials can include important ability tree buffs, a tactical item, and even legendary items occasionally. If you can tweak the order that you use your DCDs where it allows you to get an extra use out of one of them over the course of a long burn phase, you should definitely do that instead of activating your potentially stronger DCDs first. The earpiece is the only piece of gear that you really get to pick your tertiary stats for. Refraction Point also has a very nice bonus, since it causes Penetrating Rounds to deal damage to multiple enemies and Penetrating Rounds applies the armor debuff, this tactical allows you to provide the armor debuff to multiple enemies at the same time, which is super rare. You should practice on the dummy if youre not able to consistently execute the rotation correctly. If you dont want to bother with extra relics, just always use the Relic of Serendipitous Assault. It would also work as an alternative to stunning one of the Chained Manifestations on Styrak NiM. If your favorite trick is "use gun on man", the Gunslinger is for you. You do need to be mindful of what type of damage youre mitigating with Surrender because it changes what other defensives youre allowed to use at the same time. Note: You can also utilize the Energy Regulator implant in exchange for Locked and Loaded, allowing you to give up the Energy Barrels ability tree buff, without losing DPS, but you dont gain any DPS on the dummy while Locked and Loaded is more generically useful. Thankfully, we dont have to bother with carrying around a second set of relics anymore because all endgame content is being balanced for level 80. Its still necessary to activate Cool Head ASAP if you find yourself below 45 Energy, but its less optimal to wait that long if you can help it. You wont get the full damage of your DoTs but you also wont have to spend a GCD to apply them when the boss is vulnerable, so you will end up dealing more damage. In case you were curious, the accuracy increase helps Gunslingers do better against some classes in PvP since accuracy over 100% reduces your opponents defense chance, though its still not a perfect counter. This build is super fun for solo content since it enables you to one-hit kill Standard enemies with Aimed Shot autocrits, making you really feel like a Gunslinger. Ready for AnythingUpon entering cover, your stealth detection level begins to increase gradually, reaching up to 30 additional levels of stealth detection over the following 30 seconds. This makes it more difficult to escape at the very last second. If everyones health is getting low or theres a heal check in the current phase, do not hesitate to use your Medpac if you can take full benefit of the health provided or need to be above a certain health level to survive an imminent mechanic. This cooldown is unique to Sharpshooter Gunslingers. They are intended to be changed on the fly and having a clearer idea of what all of them do will help you to recognize situations where individual choices will be useful in-game. Gunslinger is a Gunner advanced class, focusing on it's unique class mechanic of having three different weapons: Shotgun, Pistols, and Rifle. The ability tree buffs that arent listed as Build Essentials can be changed as needed without compromising the integrity of the build, though I have included a full set of default choices that will be most consistently helpful in accomplishing what the build sets out to do. It doesnt always work, but its worth trying to figure out which circles will kill you and which you can survive completely, or at least survive long enough that you can get to a point in your rotation where you will lose minimal DPS from moving. It's considered to be one of the hardest classes to play, due to having to shuffle around your weapons, but it is also one of the most rewarding when played correctly. Gunslinger - 3v3 Deathmatch Build. It is highly unlikely that a fight will last long enough where this delay will be enough to where it will result in missing out on a use of the Adrenal. You will probably still see Aimed Shot get delayed slightly and this is fine. I will be updating all of my class guides as I become able to test them more thoroughly and as balance changes are released, though this will take time as I am just one person with many different class guides to maintain. Healers are also a lot more focused on the raid frame than you will be as a DPS, so they are far better equipped to know when it will be useful for the raid than you will. When you do Burst Volley > Penetrating Rounds > Trickshot, you can treat it as if the gap just doesnt appear; if that makes more sense. Hunker Down also provides CC immunity. The other seems to be related to PvP balance, but there isnt a clear pattern beyond the choice, forcing players to decide which of 3 capabilities they want to keep. It also has some fairly strong procs that help to compensate for its low damage and there isnt really anything else you can use that isnt weaker. Since damage intake management is primarily a tank and healer job, this ability is primarily to make their lives easier. This build doesnt eliminate the gap in your rotation and still offers a good sustained DPS increase. Str: Dump. Thanks to their non-stop Aimed Shot autocrits, youll truly feel like a Gunslinger as you pick off every single enemy from afar with a single shot. Agility boosts your AP, and it boosts it quickly. 3 choices which are just old Utility effects. (Ranged/Energy/Direct/Single-Target/Instant)Depending on your ability tree build, you may need to use this ability during the gap in your rotation sometimes when Cool Head is unavailable in order to keep your Energy at a safe level. We will cover the Peacemaker Engraving in a later guide update. Dont pop all of your DCDs at once or only use them when your health gets low. Gunslinger doesn't require positional damage as all the Shotgun skills have In a Tight Spot to remove the need to Back Attack and Rifle skills don't have positional requirements as well. Kazite Spellblade is optional here, I took it for the stats from breakthrough and another boost to dagger damage via Infuse Frost, which also helps Brand stay powerful late-game. Sharpshooters rotation is basically to just cycle through 3 main groupings of abilities, all of which include a single use of Trickshot, and then theres a single GCD gap before Aimed Shot tends to come off cooldown. If a tank is out of defensive cooldowns and needs another its okay to use. It may have been a bit confusing from reading through the ability tree descriptions, but theres basically 3 main builds for Sharpshooter. Please note that the cooldown of Aimed Shot is the same as the duration of the proc and since Quickdraw has a fairly long travel time, it is possible for the proc to fall off before the damage goes out, especially if youre standing further away from the boss. The Adrenal should always be paired with 2 charges of Smugglers Luck and a double Penetrating Rounds Burst Volley. You can also swap out the Improved Targeting Implant, Ballistic Redistribution, and Relic of Serendipitous Assault for the Energy Regulator Implant, Lucky Thoughts, and Relic of Devastating Vengeance (dont forget to fix your Alacrity). Even if the attack looks like a single-target attack, theres a good chance that its still considered AoE damage. Lucky Thoughts and Lucky Draw are often redundant since youll be resetting the cooldown of Aimed Shot and Smugglers Luck with each Aimed Shot kill, so I think going for Energy Barrels + Ballistic Redistribution makes more sense since that pair will actually increase your damage output. The highest defense chance that DPS and healer classes have is 10%, though most classes have 5% so you gear to counteract the majority and can use Illegal Mods on the others. There isnt much of a discernable DPS difference between the two approaches and if youd rather not have to worry about this sort of thing at all, its okay to just never use Trickshot if its procced by Quickdraw. It isnt the end of the world though if you cant take the utility since Heads Up is still pretty strong. In a later update, likely 7.1, a vendor that sells mods will become available to players with high rating gear. Honed ShotsCharged Burst grants Honed Shots, increasing the critical hit chance and damage done by Charged Burst by 3% for 20 seconds. Thanks to the Agitating Energies tactical, this ability accounts for a gigantic proportion of your total damage output. Equip whichever version of these relics that has the highest item rating.
